This Level 1 programme will introduce you numerous skills that are the back bone of the construction industry; bricklaying, carpentry, plastering, tiling, basic plumbing and electrial.
You can progress into our longer qualifications and apprenticeships across a range of trades once you've established you're a good fit and you like the work.
Development in maths and English is also important and this is integrated into your daily practical and classroom-based tasks, so everything you do is relevant to the trades you are studying.
You will need an interest in working in the construction industry. Some previous experience is helpful, and being a 'hands-on' practical person is desirable to learn the skills required for the various jobs available leading from this course.
English, digital and maths skills will not be assessed separately, but will be included within your study time as they are essential building blocks for a successful career.
Full engagement per week in class set projects, home study tasks and successful completion of all course assessments.

Working in practical workshop, classroom and IT suite. You will take part in classroom and practical sessions where you will learn basic skills across a range of trades such as brick laying, carpentry, plastering, basic plumbing and electrical. You will have the opportunity to discuss the subjects with your course tutor and peers, and receive full support as you progress through your assessments. You will also be offered an independent future course and careers assessment, learn about other courses on offer and receive a fast track enrolment to sign up to any new course with WLC.
School Leavers (16-18)
If you will be 16, 17 or 18 years old on 31 August before your course starts, and you have the legal right to live in the UK for the full length of your study programme, your course will be free.

Adult Students (19+)
If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August before your course starts, are resident in London, and have the legal right to stay in the UK for at least 12 months, you may be eligible to study for free, depending on your circumstances and chosen course. For more information, please click here.
