ABOUT THIS COURSE

Take your career in beauty therapy to the next level by gaining in-demand specialist skills and techniques. Designed specifically for Level 3 qualified practitioners aged 18 and over, this Level 4 qualification is your gateway to mastering advanced aesthetic techniques, unlocking opportunities in prestigious salons, luxurious spas, and cutting-edge clinics.

With a curriculum shaped by industry experts and aligned to both national and international standards, you will gain the skills and confidence needed to shine as a fully-fledged commercial aesthetic practitioner. This is more than just a qualification - it’s your ticket to standing out in the competitive world of beauty and aesthetics.

Through this dynamic programme, you’ll deepen your understanding of advanced skincare principles and safety protocols, all tailored to the most sought-after aesthetic treatments. In addition to the technical knowledge of cutting-edge procedures like microneedling, chemical peels, and dermaplaning, you’ll also master the art of professional client consultations and expert aftercare advice.

You'll be working in The Salon, based at Hammersmith & Fulham College, which is open to the public, giving you real life customer service and client care experience. The course takes place over 2 days each week, with a minimum of 3 hours of self study required.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course is open to all learners aged 18 and over.  It is recommended that applicants have:

  • Beauty Therapy - Level 3, or equivalent (or equivalent medical qualifications).
  • Four GCSEs grade 5 or above, including English and maths or Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2

In addition, this course has a specific dress code to comply with industry standards:

  • Nails must be short and well-maintained
  • Make-up should be natural-looking
  • Hair must be clean, well-cared for and tidy; if your hair is longer than shoulder length, it should be tied up in a bun
  • Personal jewellery is not allowed during practical lessons
  • Beards and moustaches must be neatly groomed and trimmed
  • Short-sleeved clothing with The Salon uniform/scrubs, accompanied by flat, covered black shoes 

You may also need to complete an initial assessment in English and Maths, depending on your grades.
We will check that the course is right for you at enrolment.

ASSESSMENT METHOD

Your assessments are designed to match what you've learned. All your work will be marked by your tutors, giving you a chance to show off your skills in real-world situations.

You'll build a portfolio of your coursework, showcasing your progress throughout the course. Plus, you'll get hands-on experience through practical assignments and receive feedback from your tutors. Some mandatory units may be assessed by external exams.

PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES

Employment in beauty salons, a health spa, cruise liners, care homes, airlines and hotel chains.

Further Study for a specialist qualifications e.g.
- Level 4 in Salon Management,
- Level 5 Award in Radiofrequency Microneedling Treatments,
- Level 5 Award in Skin Peeling Treatments
